2018 brings Rossini in New York, Donizetti in Berlin and Madrid
This year, Javier Camarena performs two new roles – Idreno in Semiramide and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor.
The Mexican tenor opens the year at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, singing in Rossini’s Semiramide. The production, led by the Italian maestro Maurizio Benini, also stars Angela Meade in the title role, Elizabeth DeShong as Arsace, Ildar Abdrazakov as Assur, and Ryan Speedo Green as Oroe. Semiramide opens on February 19 and runs through March 17.
Javier then sings a recital with soprano Rebeca Olvera on April 28 in Dublin. This concert, conducted by Robert Houlihan, marks Javier’s Irish debut.
On May 20, Javier performs an homage to the legendary tenor Manuel García at the Salzburg Festival with Gianluca Capuano and Les Musiciens du Prince.
The summer season brings a series of Donizetti works, first with two concert performances of Maria Stuarda at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (May 28, 31), followed by Lucia di Lammermoor at Madrid’s Teatro Real (June 22 – July 13). The tenor makes his debut as Edgardo, singing opposite Lisette Oropesa as Lucia, and Artur Rucinski as Enrico Ashton.
