An Encore for Tonio! Javier sings bis of “Ah! mes amis” at the Metropolitan Opera
At the opening night of La fille du régiment at The Metropolitan Opera, Javier Camarena sang an encore of Tonio’s first act aria “Ah! mes amis…pour mon âme.” The New York Times praised Javier’s “breezy performance of the aria, complete with clarion, effortless high C’s,” adding that it was “so thrilling that the audience broke into an ecstatic ovation.”
Javier returns to the stage for six additional performances of La fille du régiment starring opposite Pretty Yende as Marie, Stephanie Blythe as the Marquise of Berkenfield, Alessandro Corbelli and Maurizio Muraro alternating the role of Sulpice, and Kathleen Turner as the Duchess of Krakenthorp. Experience the thrill of the high C’s at the Metropolitan Opera on February 11, 15, 18, 23, 26, or March 2.
